2009 Regional Swimming Meet

Our water resistant (not waterproof) trio of photographers somehow managed to stay afloat during the three day Regional Swimming Meet held at Bloomington HS over the weekend. Manual tops Peoria Christian

Peoria Manual and Peoria Christian hooked up at the Canton Regional on Friday in a contest between the state's top two ranked teams in Class 2A. The Rams came out on top in a classic game which further cemented Peoria as a high school basketball powerhouse. Julie was there to catch all the action.

Maui Jim Dive For Cover 2009

Ching and Isaiah were on hand at Maui Jim Headquarters in Peoria on Friday for the annual Dive For Cover event in support of the South Side Mission. Brrrrrrrrrr!

RHS Soars Past Redbirds

The photo says it all...well, almost. The RHS Lady Knights shot down the high flying Metamora Redbirds at their own Sectional on Thursday to advance to the SuperSectionals. Congrats to the Redbirds on a great season and good luck to RHS.

RHS Boys Basketball 2009 Seniors

RHS Rocks the Rocks

The Lady Knights made little Rocks out of big Rocks on Monday as they "rolled" to an easy victory over Rock Island in the Sectional semi-final. That's a lot of Rocks! Good luck, girls!

Central USA Open Powerlifting

On Sunday Lance deadlifted his camera out to the Central USA Open Powerlifting meet at Packard Plaza in Peoria, where he personally bench pressed two candy bars, and squatted up and down several times while covering one of Peoria's premier powerlifting events. 20-year-old Jeremy Alwerdt of Taylorville sets the American Jr. record in the bench with a lift of 451 pounds.

Svetlana Baker, a 55-year-old lifter originally from Latvia, wins the masters squat.

Roger Ryan of Decatur breaks his own American record in the masters (50-54 years) bench press with a lift of 683.2 pounds. He just missed at 722! Lance's camera weighs 5 pounds and he was exhausted after the meet! Time to get to the gym. Congrats to all the lifters for a wonderful show!

RHS Lady Knights Slay Lions to Win Regional Title

The RHS Lady Knights (and a few interloping male fans) "cheese" for the camera following their 62-41 win over PHS in the Dunlap Regional on Friday. Peoria Ballet's Romeo and Juliet Ball was held at Peoria Country Club on Valentine's Evening. Beautiful backdrops gave the Ball a romantic feel for the scores of "star-crossed lovers" in attendance.

Dunlap HS Boys Basketball Team 2009 Seniors

Last week, Susan called and asked me to make a collage for all Dunlap HS Boys Basketball Seniors. She identified the seniors and picked out images, and I put them together. On Senior Night, last Friday, each senior received one. I'm sure they'll treasure this collage for years to come. Great job, Susan!

As a tribute on Senior Night, fans painted themselves with a senior's jersey number.
