2010 Illinois Swimming Regional Championships

This past weekend we were out in full force at the 2010 Illinois Swimming Regional Championships held at Central Pool. The three-day meet featured 107 events and hundreds of swimmers from ages 9 to 18.

No Luck for Lady Irish

The RHS Lady Knights (22-11) defeated a hardnosed PND squad 58-53 in overtime in the championship game of the Woodruff Regional on Friday. The Knights now advance to the LaSalle Sectional where they will face a tough Geneseo club (24-6). Good luck girls!

Boy Scouts of America kick off 100th Anniversary Celebration

The W.D. Boyce Council, Boy Scouts of America, celebrated its 100th birthday today at the Peoria Service Center. It also marked the beginning of the Heroes of Scouting campaign and a national year long celebration. Heroes of Scouting will recognize five local heroes who attribute the success in their lives to the skills and characteristics Scouting has instilled in them.

PND won eight events at yesterday's Conference Meet and claimed its fifth consecutive conference title.

Woodruff High School alumni returned to Woodruff Pool yesterday to say a final farewell to the pool at the MS6 Conference Swimming and Diving Meet. Woodruff swimming alumni helped with the timing and scoring and passed out medals in the final high school meet at the pool. Woodruff HS will close at the end of this academic year. On Thursday, the PND Lady Irish hosted Metamora on Senior Night and came away with a non-conference victory.
